Beatrice could not operate without our dedicated team of volunteers. All crew members have chance to gain boating skills while enjoying a day out looking after our guests. No experience is needed to join us, just a bit of energy and a willingness to learn. We will give you all the training you need. Some volunteer crew members go on to get a special qualification to become Skippers. But whether Skipper or Crew all our team members work together and have chance to helm the boat (a posh way of saying steer) and help out working the locks.
Some volunteers work behind the scenes, as Trustees for the Charity that manages the boat. Some organise bookings and crew, or help with publicity or our website and social media, other are dedicated fund raisers.
