Some of our canal boat trips go towards Froghall, passing through Consall Forge. It's a wonderful location, a bit off the beaten track by road but very easy to get to by canal on Beatrice or on a preserved steam train, operated by the Churnet Valley Railway. If you are lucky your arrival might coincide with one of the trains and then you get the best of both worlds. Of course if you are on one of our family or social trips you could always stop off for refreshment at the Black Lion pub while you wait for a train to come along!
