Become a Trustee

The Beatrice Charity is overseen and managed by a committee of Trustees. The Trustees have a range of skills beyond boating and we are always looking for enthusiastic people to bring us their experience.

The first President of the Charity was Sir Arthur Bryan, then Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire and Chairman of the Wedgwood Pottery company. Guy Barks was the Chairman and driving force. Over the years our Trustees have shared their love of the canals and working to benefit those who use our boat.

It is important that we mix expertise in boating with a range of other skills, in both disability and in operating an organisation. Several of our present Trustees are also active crew members. Other valuable experience within the committee includes administration, teaching of children with special needs, child-care and care of adults with disabilities, finance, charity fundraising and professional seamanship.

Others who are not on the Committee support its work in, for example, booking and crew scheduling, in IT and website development, and in communications and publicity.
