More VIP Visits

Beatrice has played host to a number of dignitaries over recent months as part of our policy of spreading the word about what we do. Every now and then we invite a representative of the community to wave off a trip, meeting the children and encouraging our volunteers.

Following a successful visit by the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Ian Dudson CBE KStJ, in June, one of his Deputies, Judy Scott-Moncrieff, visited us in July, and again met pupils from Meadows School. For some reason, our Chairman Derek Hilyer is kneeling down!

A somewhat different day out was the Leek Town Mayor’s Civic Cruise later in the month, part of his charitable fund-raising. We ran two trips from our mooring to the Hollybush Inn and back, for mayors and other civic dignitaries from towns round and about, including Ashbourne, Biddulph, Stone, Cheadle and our host parish, Cheddleton. Pictured are (left to right) Beatrice Crew Member Mark Goulding, Beatrice Chairman Derek Hilyer, who is also Leek Deputy Mayor for 2024-25, the Leek Mayor, Barry Birch, and Skipper Terry Simpson.
