End To The Season

As winter approaches this season's boating on Beatrice has come to an end. The boat will now be prepared for a few months' rest. But although it's also a break for most of our volunteers, winter is a busy time for those responsible for maintenance. Minor tasks can be carried out between summer trips but bigger jobs can only be done when the boat is not out for a while. Every few years that includes taking her out of the water to inspect, repair and repaint the bits you don't see. All this makes sure Beatrice is in top condition when she starts on a new season.

Meanwhile, although it's been a challenging year, with low water levels forcing a change of base and limiting routes, our guests have still enjoyed a few tranquil hours among the beautiful canal-side views. Thank you to all who booked Beatrice this year, whether you are one of the schools who are the main focus of our charitable work, one of the adult groups we are now able to include thanks to generous sponsorship, or one of the private parties who make it all possible. Thanks too to all those who have supported us through donations and grants. We think these pictures, with kind permission of the children, staff, parents and carers of Cicely Haughton School, say it all.
And don't worry Beatrice will be back soon. Out trips will resume in Spring and bookings will be open early in the New Year. Keep an eye on our website and our Beatrice Charity Facebook page for more information.
