Civic Cruise

Civic dignitaries from around the area recently enjoyed an evening trip on Beatrice. The event, for Mayors and Chairs of various local councils, was organised by Cllr Derek Hilyer, the former Chairman of the Beatrice Charity, who is himself Mayor of Leek this year. Derek is pictured (second from left) with some of the guests.

The cruise along the Caldon Canal began at Endon Boat Club, which also provided hospitality for the visitors. The evening included a raffle. Derek's predecessor as Mayor, Cllr Barry Birch, won the prize of a trip on Beatrice, which he plans to use as a fund-raising opportunity.

The event is a chance for the guests to learn about our charitable work and the facilities the boat offers. It is also a thank you for the generous donations which have come from Civic leaders' fundraising in the past.
